Obama Is A Hawk
By John Pilger
In 1941, the editor Edward Dowling wrote: "The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first, the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it." What has changed? The terror of the rich is greater than ever, and the poor have passed on their delusion to those who believe that when George W Bush finally steps down next January, his numerous threats to the rest of humanity will diminish.

How Can Anyone Believe There is 'Progress' in The Middle East?
By Robert Fisk
Let's kick off with the man who is not going to change the Middle East, Barack Obama, who last week, with infinite predictability, became Time's "person of the year". But buried in a long and immensely tedious interview inside the magazine, Obama devotes just one sentence to the Arab-Israeli conflict: "And seeing if we can build on some of the progress, at least in conversation, that's been made around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be a priority."

Obama paying his debt to Zionists
The first Jewish-President-elect Obama is silent. This silence is part of the deliberate appeasment to his Zionist handlers. He is not facing any dilemma such damned if he speak and damned if he doesn't. Of course, if he opens his mouth, he will be lyinglike any of the past presidents of Israel in the White House.

Here comes the truth now. Maybe this will be a good one to blame on the Bush administration:

Obama Warns Trillion-Dollar Deficit Could Lead to Extensive Government Budget Cuts President-elect Barack Obama is warning the US deficit will top $1 trillion this year, leading to what he says could be extensive cuts to government budgets. Obama made the warning Tuesday as he meanwhile prepares an economic stimulus package that will cost almost the same amount. We speak with Dean Baker of the Center for Economic and Policy Research and Arun Gupta of The Indypendent newspaper. Ref. Source 6 |

Massive stimulus program
WASHINGTON (AP) - In his first speech since his election, President-elect Barack Obama warned that the economy could become "dramatically worse" if Congress doesn't enact a massive stimulus program. He laid out goals of doubling the production of alternative energy over three years, updating most federal buildings to improve energy efficiency, making medical records electronic, expanding broadband networks and updating schools and universities.

I listened to this speech. I think he has some good ideas but part of what he is saying is going to take a lot of money thrown out to the private companies. I hope that the alternate energy is brought more forward and we lessen our need on foreign oil.
Putting out a trillion dollars to hire 600,000 government workers isn't going to save the economy -- it's going to increase the size of our government to an unsustainable level.
Okay, give the "money" to the citizens... at $500 or so per family? That won't do anything -- remember the few hundred dollars that was put out last summer? Nothing happened.
All that this pre-spending is doing is buying a few months into the future. It's not solving anything. Economic trouble comes in cycles, and we are at or near the bottom right now. All the "money" being flung around will eventually come due, and it may be years before this economy turns around.
Obama's good at speeches, etc., but will his team of advisors and experts really be able to make changes? I'm still reeling over Leon Panneta as head of the CIA, and some CNN reporter as Surgeon General. It's going to be a crazy year ahead, and beyond that, who can tell anything?!?
