I think it is going to be interesting these first few days as he tries to get some things done that are going to send a lot of ripples out into the economy and the people of this land. For good or bad that is what remains to be seen.

That will depend if they are coming up on their 15% wage increase or not. I am glad that he has done this. I hope he dissects the spending on silly studies and expenses. Spend what needs to spent to get the job not but cut out all waste.

trimming the fat could be a good thing. Getting these outrageous salaries under control may help some too. Why would a WH secretary need 100K a year?

Obama White House Calls for Repealing Defense of Marriage Act
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
By Matt Cover

QUOTE
Unveiling his agenda Tuesday on the newly refurbished version of the White House Web site, Obama called for the repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), as well as the extension of more than 1,000 federal marriage benefits and of adoption rights to homosexual couples.
...
Obama also favors granting adoption rights to homosexual couples, saying that children benefit from a healthy home, regardless of whether the "parents" are homosexual or not.

"President Obama believes that we must ensure adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation," the site said. "He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving home, whether the parents are gay or not," the website reads.

Obama further promises to distribute contraceptives through the nation's public health system, saying the move is vital to combating HIV and AIDS - and the new president wants contraceptives to be distributed in federal prisons.
....
Obama also wants to lift the federal ban on needle exchanges, which provides intravenous drug addicts with free, clean needles in an effort to ensure they abuse illegal drugs safely.

"The president also supports lifting the federal ban on needle exchange, which could dramatically reduce rates of infection among drug users."

I strongly object to my tax dollars being spent to give needles to drug users. I understand that the idea is to reduce the spread of AIDS, I get that. But, honestly, "abuse illegal drugs safely" is an oxymoron.

Let me ask this: If a heterosexual is attacked by homosexuals, can he/she file federal hate-crime charges against them? Who is being protected and who is not?

Obama's approval rating plunges 15 points:

Barack Obama might have been in office for less than a week, but the euphoria is beginning to wane. The new President's approval ratings have fallen from a stratospheric 83 per cent to a more modest - although still impressive - 68 per cent. Ref. Source 8

Obama and the Drug of Hope
By Bryann Alexandros

"This resort to violence from the skies even before Obama had initiated discussions with Islamabad is a bad sign. It is not clear if Obama really believes that the fractious tribes of the Pakistani northwest can be subdued with some airstrikes and if he really believes that U.S. Security depends on what happens in Waziristan."
