SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: Governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá’s chances of winning his aspirations for re-election were slim, facing 24 federal charges for allegedly violating campaign finance laws, wire fraud and allegedly raising money to pay off his 2000 and 2004 campaign debts. Vilá’s trial is slated to begin in February.
