Its quit a coincidence that this thread would come up as I'm studying my nordic roots. I have been studying allot about Runes of late, specifically nordic runes, so I do know how to cast a rune spell. I can only give information on how to cast a rune spell. If you are familiar with spell casting and I have made a mistake, then feel free to correct me. I would also like to state that I do not necessarily believe in spells and magic. That is to say, like god, I have seen no proof that such things are helpful outside of you making things happen because you believe it will happen, thus you do things that would have cause it to happen any way.
1. Create the run on a plank of wood or piece of paper if you have no wood.
2. Consecrate the rune. Example below:

Some also put a few drops of their own blood on it.
3. Place the rune where it is needed.

| Rather off topic, but... To be honest there are no set rules as to casting a spell. If you truly believe in something enough like magic it will happen. I believe in god but not the set rules and if he thinks something is to happen it will happen like me casting a spell. |
There are no boundaries to casting spells. Their are some who create their own spells from scratch. All it takes is faith and some substance and if you believe it will happen.

Spell Cast You How
Spells are very... Tricky stuff... People become mad or crazy if they get too much into it, but this topic is not that kinda spells. 
So I think if you believe in this, it will help you(I.e. if you have something important to you (like medalion, necklase, ring or anything else) and you believe that it helps you, it will help.) I really don't believe in curses or something like that, but...

How to cast a spell. A physicist would say, you don't need to. A christian might say, the same way you move a mountain. Ask "I am" and you would be told you just did.
I liked the answer from Glyphfury, if you believe then it will be.
Very cool stuff.

How You Cast Spell
Please let me explain, you don't need runes, candles, rose petals, blood or grave dust to cast a spell.
All you need is faith.
For a Spell is nothing but a Prayer.
It is an expression of will to our better selves or any aspect of a Spiritual System or Divine Being.
If we believe we can make our will be done or ask our Goddess or God to help us than we are making a prayerful Spell.
