If GM and Chrysler are so far in debt that they have creditors fighting over who gets paid first then I think the US government needs to be kicked in the rear for lending them the monies to start. They just bailed out the banks then put themselves in direct competition for major money in a loan to these companies. So either they collect from the manufactures then hand it to thew banks that they just messed up their existing loans or they just let the banks collect directly. Either way I think the tax payer is taking their bad choice right on the chin.
Just seems to me one bad choice after the next is being made. I so go Ford! If they are making it on their own then they are the only valid business of the three and deserve more of the market. As a consumer we will always have a car to buy and it will be made in north America by North Americans for a long time to come.
Chrysler, GM want additional billions
DETROIT - The price tag for bailing out General Motors and Chrysler jumped by $14 billion yesterday, to $39 billion, with the automakers saying they would need the additional aid from the federal government to remain solvent. In return, the companies promised to make further drastic cuts to all parts of their operations in the hope that they can strike a balance between their bloated cost structures and a dismal market for new-car sales. This seems to be a money pit for the american people. Just how much money are we going to keep pumping into these two auto makers? I think we need to cut them off now. I think I will buy a ford vehicle as they are not asking for billions upon billions of dollars.

CNN says that the big three have reduced their salary to $1 a year and they will drive to their next meeting with the Congressmen. Poor guys, how will they ever survive on $1 a year. |
