Powder scares at 2 LDS temples, Catholic plant
"Our mailroom employees discovered an envelope that had been mailed to us from California shortly before noon," Pat Korten, vice president of communications for the Knights of Columbus, told the Deseret News late Thursday. "When they opened it some white powder escaped."
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Knights of Columbus are both major backers of the controversial Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California. However, the FBI cautioned late Thursday there is no evidence to link the threats to Prop. 8 opponents.

I think it will blow over after awhile. Everyone is still angry because a lot of them were married, had the marriage nullified, married again an now the same thing is happening. They want to blame the Church for their failure to make it law, but I think they need to blame the majority of Californian's who voted, the majority of whom expressed they do not want this. With that said, the Church is under attack everyday, physical attacks to me are actually the MOST subtle of all the bombardment it faces.
This is not unique to the LDS Church since a similar envelope has been sent to a Catholic organization as well. No doubt in my mind it is connected to the issue in California. Thank goodness, the envelope sent to the LDS temples are non-toxic.

I can't imagine becoming that angry at a group of people, just because they disagreed with my opinion. Seeking to destroy and perhaps attempting to kill or injure others because they disagreed with the choice the majority of the voters made, is way too harsh! The voters decided and although things did not turn out the way some may want, it was a fair vote and the outcome was made. They must live with that outcome. I disagree a lot with how some outcomes from voting turned out
Rather off topic, but...
Like the latest presidential election
However, I would never seek out any means of violence or other irrational behavior such as this because of the outcome. How sad it is that we can not all be mature enough to handle disagreements better. I do feel the church may come under attack even more, and I think we are going to have to step out more as a church (yes, taking political sides) and stick up for the morals, values, and our traditional family position, even though it may be uncomfortable and life threatening at times. That is what the law of sacrifice and consecration involve. Giving your time, talents, and sometimes your lives to stand up for what is right. It is going to get tougher, I believe and this may be what causes members to fall in the last days. It is going to be hard and require deep faith and sacrifice to be a member in the last days. Be prepared and ready as the church and all members will be under attack!

I am probably wrong on this one, as Christ would never get angry in the temple and try to expel anyone. |
Message Edited... JB: Come one Quasar, what is all that talk about grammar improvements and you put "john taylor"? You looking for me to get your Indian in-laws to stir trouble for you? |
Temples do have security guards and sometimes they are called for situations. I think we have some situations mentioned in the Mature LDS Board, however I do imagine that Temple Presidents must already be getting bulletins about beefing up security urgently against terrorist attacks.
I am just thinking of what happened at the Nauvoo temple when the saints left. They did some bad things there just to mock. I wonder if the same would happen if the doors were shut on modern temples because of these incidents.

Especially a name like John Taylor! I get along with the Chief real good. Don't need drama. I will be good. That is cold JB. It will take me days to get over that threat. I am hurt. |
