A sense of deep loss is all that remains now that Gaylord Entertainment has given up trying to build a billion-dollar resort hotel and convention center on the Chula Vista bayfront. Gaylord wanted to lease 32 acres of public land for a 2,000-room hotel and 600,000-square-foot convention center. But nearly four years and $5 million later, the company became discouraged by three factors.
