Health officials are monitoring not only the people the Dallas Ebola patient had contact with while he was contagious and not isolated, but also dozens of people that they subsequently contacted, Dallas County Health and Human Services spokeswoman Erikka Neroes said today.
Eighty people -- the patient's contacts, plus people with whom they had contact -- are now being monitored for Ebola in the Dallas area, Neroes said. Ref. CNN
Texas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan answered "No" To questions about whether he had cared for anyone with Ebola, a Liberian aviation official told CNN. Witnesses and a community leader said otherwise.
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf told the CBC that Duncan leaving the country is "Unpardonable."

Pentagon: Ebola troop levels could hit 4,000
The United States may have up to 4,000 troops in West Africa to fight the spread of the Ebola virus, Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said Friday. President Obama had ordered 3,000 troops there on Sept. 16. Ref. USAToday

Several weeks ago, National Nurses United began surveying registered nurses across the U.S. About emergency preparedness. Most of the nurses are telling NNU that their hospital is not prepared for the Ebola virus. Ref. Source 1
A nurse's assistant in Spain is the first person known to have contracted Ebola outside of Africa in the current outbreak.
Spanish Health Minister Ana Mato announced that a test confirmed the assistant has the virus. She had helped treat a Spanish missionary who contracted Ebola in West Africa. Ref. CNN
This epidemic reminds me of when people started to first learn about AIDS and there wasn't a cure then either. What makes this worst is AIDS can only be transmitted by 3 specific methods but with Ebola it can be passed through so many more methods that most only discover they are infected after the fact.
