Eating on a dollar a day
ENCINITAS - Christopher Greenslate and Kerri Leonard wanted to see if they could eat on $1 a day - a generally accepted measure of extreme poverty globally - and the challenge led to a discussion about food among their friends and people around the world.

I think that they went a little extreme on what they did. I can take a dollar and eat pretty much ok. I may lose weight but I will still be able to get veggies and meat. Maybe it is the area I live in but I have seen fruits and veggies for less than a dollar. With buying some raman noodles for less than a dollar I can get 6 to 12 meals. That frees me up to buy some cheap hotdogs and other items to add to the raman noodle diet.
I agree you can eat healthier than they did for the same price. You may get tired of your mundane menu but it is do-able. If you bought a bag of beans and some fresh veggies you could make a soup to last you all week. Water is free. To add a little more protein to your diet, pick up a fryer. It would do a couple meals then use the carcass for your soup.
