Do You Try To Please Everyone?

Consider the following story and place your thoughts.

An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town.
The boy rode on the donkey and the man walked.
As they went along they passed some people who remarked,
"Isn't it ashamed the old man was walking and the young man was riding."
The man and the boy thought the critics were right and they changed positions.

Later they passed some people who remarked,
"What ashamed he makes that young boy walk."
So they decided they both would walk.
Soon they passed some people who thought they were stupid to walk when
they had a perfectly good donkey to ride on. So they both rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying,
"How awful to put such a load on a poor donkey."
The boy and the old man said there were probably right so they decided to
carry the donkey.

As they crossed the bridge they lost their grip on the animal and
he felt in the river and drowned.
What is the moral of this story?
If you try to please everyone you can kiss your donkey good bye.

I liked how they changed the original story to a donkey.

I do not try to please everyone. I know that you can never please everyone 100% of the time so why even try. I am going through life doing my own little things. If you like me then I am agreeable to you if you do not like them then do not look.

The fact is the matter is why would you even want to? In this same story they decided to do something different based on what other people thought or said. I experience that on a daily basis, people who want to tell me how to run my own life and they are clueless, most times their own lives are falling apart but they have plenty of suggestions for you. Most of the best men I have met are quietly observant but keep their thoughts to themselves until approached. The ones who want to be pleased aren't afraid to voice their thoughts at every turn.

Yes the onces who think they should be pleased at all times are usually the most vocal I have found too. These are the people I will avoid. I am one who will try to help those who ask for it.

Good story. It's does a good job of showing that no matter what you do, people are still going to find something to be unhappy or criticize about. I try to please other people as much as is comfortable for me in public, and at work, to the point where no trouble is caused and I get along with others at work so we can work more efficiently.

For example, when I'm in public, I would like to slump all over the place on the bus and put my purse on the seat beside me, instead of the floor. Instead, I sit up straight and put my purse on my lap so that the seat beside me has a comfortable amount of space for another person. I would rather do this, than be physically comfortable and have people stare at me or give rude comments.

Things like that I do to just make my day go easier.
