Is it possible that this guy suffers amnesia based on the account of his own father or he just want to make up a story?

LONDON - The last trace of John Darwin was the wreckage of his canoe, which washed up on a beach in northern near his northern England home more than five years ago. On Saturday, the father of two walked into a London police station and told officers he did not remember where he has been. Police in Cleveland, northeast England, said Monday that Darwin gave his name, birth date and previous address but no information on his whereabouts over the past five years. The 57-year-old formerly lived in Seaton Carew, 250 miles north of London. "He can't be suffering from total amnesia," a Cleveland police spokeswoman said on condition of anonymity due to force policy. "He says he can't recollect where he's been, but that's something we're investigating." Police said Darwin was staying with family in London and would be interviewed later this week. Darwin's wife, Anne, reportedly moved abroad this year. Police visited the couple's former home to take away mail, said the house's new owner, John Duffield. |
I'm just curious where he has been. If its not amnesia, then why won't he say where he has been? Its like a soap opera or something. What would he be hiding from or hiding from others? Theres no way this guy was really dead, in my opinion, but I don't know about the amnesia part. I just don't know why he would make it up. And if he was making his story up, then why?
It seems like I suspected that the guy has some things to hide, he has been arrested for fraud.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- A British man who reappeared five years after he was thought to have drowned in a canoeing accident has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, police confirmed Wednesday. Police, who are trying to piece together the movements of John Darwin over the last five years, have made a public appeal for information over his whereabouts. They are also investigating the authenticity of a photo published in British tabloid newspaper the Daily Mirror, which claims to show Darwin alongside his wife on the balcony of an apartment in Panama City in July 2006. The 57-year-old was presumed dead in 2002 after he went missing after going canoeing in the North Sea off the coastal town of Seaton Carew, in northeast England. In an appeal for public help, Detective Superintendent of the Cleveland Police, Tony Hutchison, said: "There will be people out there who know exactly where he has been, what he has been doing and where he has been living." Hutchinson said police had been probing the case over the past few months in relation to some financial enquiries. Darwin, a prison officer and former teacher, was declared dead by a coroner in 2003, 13 months after he went missing. But on Saturday Darwin walked in to a police station in central London and told officers: "I think I am a missing person", a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police, the local force investigating the case, told CNN. According to widespread media reports, Darwin told police that he did not remember where he had been for the last five years. He was later reunited with his two sons, Mark, 31, and Anthony, 29, who released a joint statement saying the reappearance of their father was "a huge shock." The statement said their mother, Darwin's wife Anna, who is believed to have moved to Panama last month after selling the couple's home in Seaton Carew, had also been informed of the news and "was delighted to hear it... |
This was all a scam for insurance purposes. His wife knew he was alive but their children did not and now they are so angry they do not want any contact with their parents.

Panama City - The sons of "back-from-the-dead" canoeist John Darwin have declared they are the victims of a scam after their mother admitted knowing her husband was alive. Anthony and Mark Darwin have now turned their backs on their parents. In a joint statement the sons said: "Having seen the recent media speculation surrounding our parents ever since our dad was arrested, we are very much in an angry and confused state of mind. "If the papers' allegations of a confession from our mom are true then we very much feel that we have been the victims in a large scam. "How could our mom continue to let us believe our dad had died when he was very much alive? "We have not spoken to either of our parents since our dad's arrest and at this present time we want no further contact with them." Anne Darwin is said to have come clean after a picture was discovered showing the couple in Panama in 2006 - three years after he was declared dead. "My sons will never forgive me. They knew nothing," the 55-year-old told reporters. "They thought John was dead. Now they are going to hate me... |
This has just been totally unbelievable, the man's family are now saying that although the wife is blaming it on her husband, they are claiming in fact it was her who was the instigator, and that she engineered the whole thing!
I feel very sorry for the 2 sons who apparently had no idea whatsoever what their parents were up to- it just proves the old adage "you can't choose your parents"
I don't blame them for wanting to disown both their parents for their appalling behavior!
I can not believe what some people will do just to get a bit of money. I know I am worth a lot of money dead but that does not mean I am going to try to get it. It is for my children if something should happen to me.
