SOLDOTNA: Fired employee had worked under his two victims. Daily News staff and wire reports (11/28/08 02:17:15) A woman shot by a former employee at an Alaska hospital remained in critical condition Thursday. A spokeswoman at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage said 57-year-old Margaret Stroup's condition hadn't changed since she arrived Wednesday night. Stroup and her co-worker at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna were shot Wednesday morning by recently fired employee Joseph Marchetti, hospital officials said. Marchetti was eventually shot and killed in a standoff with authorities. Mike Webb, 55, did not survive the shooting, dying about two hours after Marchetti fired multiple shots shortly before 10 a.m. in the Soldotna hospital. Stroup was shot several times in the chest and underwent surgery. She was later flown to the Anchorage hospital. |

This is sad and one has to ponder if his anger is not why he was dismissed. Perhaps they should have had him placed in for help.

Sounds to me that they had reason for concern if this guy had anger management issues. I think more could have been done once he was terminated. IE have a police officer watch and see if he attempted anything like this.
I believe it is a case of suicide by cop. It has met all the required conditions.
