None of that is found in the biblical account.

I have to disagree with this part of the reference. The bible does say that the babe was placed in a manger. Angles did appear before people and tell them of the babe who was born so many did come to see the babe. Not sure if they worshiped or not. Wise men came from afar.

I believe that some people have added to the story but there are some hard core facts that are told in the bible itself.

The Bible is not a History book, it is a Story book.
The events described there are interpretations and mis-interpretations written, translated and re-written over two thousand years.
There is evidence that some of the people in the stories existed, some of the events did take place. But there is much encryption of truth in myth and fable as seen in many religious texts. It is a very good read and many lessons can be learned from it. As a structure of values for a religion I think it is the best.

I am sure you can find as many people to agree with you that it a story book as I can find that it is not just a story book.

I will agree that a lot of what we hear and read about has a lot of fable and mythical references in them. A lot of the saying that we instill into our children as it is passed down over time one generation to the next is based on how people view them.

I would say there are a lot of books that this one or that other religion considers the "good" book. All of them are very good reads and if they do not cause you to think then maybe your not reading them correctly. smile.gif

I believe that if you look hard enough in any reference book, you can interpret what ever view point you like. I have studied the Bible, the Quoran, the poems of Taliesyn and even the Egyptian Book of the Dead. All have value to the open minded; selective understanding brings ignorance and prejudice, no-one has any right to say that their view is more valid than anyone else.

I agree with you on this. It is everyones choice to be free and believe as they see fit. I have yet to read the Koran but it is a book I intend to read. Most books like this I go into with a open mind. I believe that has helped me further understand and communicate with others.

This is where religions with "Good Books" can have an advantage from one point of view.
On the other hand, Oral Traditions that exist in stories told by the hearth are free to be as they are imagined.
In this world of Communication should we believe everything we read?

The article was actually written by a Christian group so I don't see the point here.
