Which exercise does it all for you? Gives you that feeling of wellness and also improves your appearance? How often and for how long do you perform that exercise?
The exercise that does it for me is running. Unfortunately I have very bad knees, so I try to find ways where I can run without the impact on my knees, eg. gliding, gazelling, etc. After a good run, I can feel all the muscles in my body twitching.
I too really enjoy running. It often makes me feel almost like I could sprout wings and fly into the heavens. Unfortunately I also have a bad knee, and running really aggravates it. I haven't figured out how to work around it yet though.
Weight Lifting, no other exercise insures that you can target every muscle. I enjoy running too, but that element of torture on the knees is no good. Another great exercise is swimming, but it is hard to get to a pool or beach that is calm enough to do strokes.
I have recently learned about "Combat Conditioning". There is a website all about it.
I haven't bought the book yet, but found enough information on the internet to learn two of the basic exercises. Hindu squats and Hindu pushups. They are both killers. This morning I did two sets of 40 squats and 10 pushups. Granted that I am in poor shape, but these really do a job on the body. I am not brave enough to try handstand pushups yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks.
The website lists a lot of people who provide their names and are willing to be contacted. There is good evidence that this type of exercise is much better than weights, because it is using body weight, with many reps, to build muscle.
It is easy to do these exercises in the home. I am finding it much easier to convince myself to get up 30 minutes early and do the exercises than it is to go to a gym or try to go running at 5:00 in the AM.
Me? Fit?
I'm just starting. Because of various health concerns, I need to lose another 30 pounds or so (lost 12 since May). Once I get the book, I will see about writing something about it.
BTW, here is a link to the website. It is a commercial website, but I certainly won't get anything out of the link. I think the information is phenomenal. I really want to do the Combat Flexibility stuff someday.

When I said 'you' I mean anyone in general, sorry for the misunderstanding, but I will be interested in what you do get out of it. However I do want to add a point about weight lifting. Many think that lifting weights means slow and heavy, but that is really old style. Now there are various ways of pressuring the body by doing giant sets, tri-combinations, etc. This may be equal to or even more difficult than Combat training depending on the intensity. I think that is the key word really for any exercise - intensity.
