That Google search will also give links to an online version of the the classic book
"Triumphant Plutocracy," written by the late US Senator Richard F. Pettigrew. He and his book have been mentioned before, on this web site.
On pages 373-387 of that book, you can read about how our US politicians bailed out the Wall Street bankers in 1917, just before they took our country into World
War I.
I think it's outrageous, that our politicians are now bailing out those bankers again,
and are also poised to bail out a lot of other private corporations. I think that will put our country so deep in debt that everyone's children and grandchildren will be
in a state of peonage, forever. They will pay taxes just to cover the interest on that debt, and get nothing in return for them.
Social Security can just be abolished, because the money from the "Payroll Tax," which now pays for Social Security, will have to be applied to paying the interest on that monstrous debt.
I suggest that any society that's wealthy enough can never really represent the people, because where there's money, there are going to be thieves, and there are going to be enough politicians willing and able to take bribes from those thieves.
I've read that, in ancient Greece, reputed to be the "cradle of democracy," there were sometimes hundreds of people on juries, to ensure that the jurors couldn't all be bribed.
