SPACE.com - NASA's announcement yesterday to delay the planned October 2009 launch of its car-sized Mars Science Laboratory rover until 2011 is the latest example of a pervasive problem within the space agency to bail out missions that go over budget at the expense of other projects, one former NASA official says.
The fact that NASA is run by the government it does not surprise me that it is often over budget and some other projects suffer because of that. I believe it is time to privatize the space industry and let corporations take over this so it is better managed and more within budgets. I believe we will see a much better space program and reach the stars quicker.
