My response to this thread is, what were they thinking? I believe that this is the worst concept that I have ever seen. Why do they believe that people would understand the importance of keeping dengue mosquitoes out of this country by showing a cartoon of the Aedes Egypti mosquito trying to enter in Piarco? This is the wrong way to educate the public about dengue. Why couldn't they visualize an excellent concept like the one where a woman decided to become a drug mule and ended up incarcerated and her poor kids became orphans because of her biggest mistake, in believing that by becoming a drug mule, this would solve all her financial problems? The public needs to know how important it is to keep their surroundings clean for example, to cut your lawn regularly and not allow it to become too bushy; to empty all containers or throw them away because once there is water in these containers, this would assist in breeding the Aedes Egypti mosquitoes. And in addition to this, they are sending the wrong message to kids.
My advice to whoever did this cartoon, please, take some time to discuss Dengue fever with the Head of Insect Vector control, Dr Clive Tilluckdharry, who I am sure will be more than willing, to explain in detail, about the seriousness of dengue fever and the importance of eradicating the Aedes Egypti mosquitoes.
