Christmas Menu 2008
What is your Christmas Menu 2008 going to look like?
We are breaking from tradition this year. Last year we had the usual ham, pastels and so forth. This year I'm thinking (hoping LDS_forever goes along):
Christmas Eve Dinner
1. Pre-sliced ham soaked in pineapple juice and lightly baked.
2. KFC style cole-slaw
3. Stuffed baked potatoes
4. Chicken fingers in BBQ sauce
5. Dinner rolls
For desert we could probably go with a trifle or cheesecake.
We want this to last for two meals and not go on for days as it usually does.
Christmas Morning Breakfast
1. LDS_forever famous ultra thin pancakes
2. Lots of crispy bacon / ham
3. Omlet
That menu looks delicious. To be honest I have not thought that far ahead yet. I have an Enrichment dinner to pull off this week and a service project to Sub 4 Santa for a family of 8 & a family of 4 that I am coordinating. At some point I will find time to drag out my own decorations and think about dinner, but it looks like it will be at least next week. As soon as I get there I will be sure to post my menu here. Our Christmas dinner is usually a buffet that people can graze on throughout the day. I think everyone will be coming to our house since my missionary will be calling.
Yes, we want it to be just good to enjoy for the day and then by Christmas Day dinner we can have something else. Nothing worst that rewarming food, especially meat over and over again. We planned it early because with rising food prices we need to ensure we get all the ingredients in as quick as possible. Near the 24 things start going in short supply especially things like mayonnaise and ketchup.
Christmas eve we have a tradition of spagetti and meat balls.
Christmas morning we have a tradition of cinnamon rolls
For christmas day we will have Turkey, a nice roasted ham mashed taters and other stuff that is still being hashed out. I do know we will have rolls and probably a couple pies.
That Christmas menu sounds amazing. I think that's the best one I've hard of so far. Spaghetti, then cinnamon rolls the morning after?

Meatballs, where did you get that from, a strong Italian side of the family? Every year we have the same things: potatoes, ham, turkey, three bean salad, freshly baked rolls and pie for desert. Mind you I would not change the menu ever!
Well, it's decided. We're going Greek this year.
Greek spinach rolls.
Homemade Hummus with kalamata olives, feta, cucumbers, sun-dried tomatos & pita wedges.
Gyros
Souvlaki (both pork & chicken)
Greek Grilled Shrimp
Greek Salad
And then cheesecake.
I will probably make a french toast souffle for breakfast.
Christmas Eve we are going to an open house at some friends where they have SO MUCH good food that I don't know if we are going to want anything when we get home or not. We'll see.
I am thinking of going more traditional and going prime rib for New Years though.
Looking over the list a meatless spaghetti diner Christmas eve might be nice oh wit not My niece can eat that so fish and stir fry most likely.
I know Christmas day is pumpkin soup, turkey(bought in June nice small one), Cornish hen (My cousin grew them for me as a treat for my niece, killed them last week.) I also found Quail for 4.00 in the last day of sale on the weekend. Yams and carrots for veggies.
JB you remind me so often how lucky I am. What good is money when no food is on the shelf.
I have to watch no rice legumes or wheat or corn can touch our kitchen as long as my niece is there. Food allergies.
