Chick Flicks 2008
You may not like the term, but we all know a chick flick when we see one -- and in 2008, we saw a lot of them, from "Sex and the City" and "Mamma Mia" to "Twilight" and "27 Dresses." So, why the change of heart among Hollywood executives who typically favor the young male audience?

I believe that hollywood wants to keep women interested and going to the movies. With the release of a movie designed especially for them they feel that they can go and have a girls night out by catching a movie instead of the normal dinner and club routine. I believe that hollywood want to hit all the available markets out there for their movies to do better.
Because today's "chicks" don't have to wait for a guy to take them to the movies -- chicks have their own money, and they are a lot more independent than in generations passed. A lot of the chicks will take their dudes with them. And, of course, if they make the movie sexy enough, maybe the guys will *want* to see it.
Rather off topic, but... Frankly, I don't think Hollywood has changed its tune. There are plenty of "dude flicks" out there right now, too. "Hancock" and "Dark Knight" just to name a couple of big ones from '08. |
