What is your review for the medicine known as 'Nyquil'?

Nyquil

Oh yes...the only medicine that actually tasted good as a child! Maybe it had something to do with the alcohol content, but it was truly delicious. You have a cold and your nose is stuffed up to where you cannot sleep, simple, take a double shot of NyQuil and it was nighty nite time in no time at all! That big green bottle with the GIANT Q on it was a synonym for screwed up dreams. I am not a big dreamer during sleep, but some of the strangest dreams came from a night spent in a NyQuil induced coma. You wake up the next day and the cold is still there, but at least you got some sleep and that might be as good as any medicine.

NyQuil is also a true and trusted friend, having been in our households since 1968!

Thank you, Vicks...

and we aren't talking about Michael Vick either!

The taste must have changed quite a bit since then, because it taste like green death to me. On the upside it will knock out both you and your cold. I'll swear by the gel tabs, they could be used as sleeping pills if so inclined.

That happened to me a couple of years ago too, it was a night of freaky dreams- I didn't realize that this happened with this medicine and thought I'd just been unlucky with it!

It's known as night nurse here in the UK, it certainly knocks you out!

Name: Mark

Comments: Night Nurse is NOT the same thing as Nyquil. I'm in the UK and bought a bottle of Night Nurse at Boots yesterday. The effects were nothing like Nyquil.

According the the bottle I'm holding, each 20ml dose of Night Nurse contains:
Paracetemol 1000mg
Promethazine Hyrdochloride 20mg
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 15mg

There are 3 varieties of Nyquil, but all 3 minimally contain the following per 15ml dose:
Dextromethorphan (15 mg) (cough suppressant)
Doxylamine succinate (6.25 mg) (antihistamine/hypnotic)

As you can see the big difference is the lack of Doxylamine succinate which is sedating ingredient in Nyquil. I swear by the Nyquil formula, it really makes me feel good and helps me get good rest when I'm sick.

I love Nyquil, especially since it came in gel tabs. It is the only way I can get good rest when I am ill. I will use Dayquil to keep going at work when I am sick also. These products are a godsend for me. When I catch a cold it often turns to bronchitis or pneumonia. If I can get enough rest in the beginning I can prevent it from getting worse.

My family uses Nyguil and Daquil when they are under the weather. Seems they did not get my immune system. Well my one daughter does not get sick that much. All in my family swear it is the best thing ever. I make sure we always have a supple of both in my house. I do not use any drugs so I can not tell you how they work.
