I agree with any form of protest to let the government know we are not pleased, but unfortunately I do not have much faith that anything in the way of change will come from it. One day of talk and marching and then it is forgotten. Something to be seen as serious needs to be daily and ongoing, but most Trinis are not that committed.
I agree with JB on this one they should have follow up protests carded by a certain date if things don't improve. I wonder if any employers are going to try and take action against workers that don't show up.
I think something needs to wake the government up a bit. So in that sense, I can see the rationale behind a strike.
I also think that Manning's government is not that popular at all, for a number of reasons. The sacking of Rowley hasn't gone down well, especially since Rowley was a major figure in the Cabinet. it also highlights Manning's supposed "dictator" behaviour and to me makes Manning look overly controlling and domineering. I think that if a general election were held tomorrow, then PNM wouldn't do that well, and those who would vote PNM only would do so because of race.
I suppose the government cannot take all of the blame for high food prices, since it's a world-wide thing. But I am disappointed with their response to this dengue outbreak.

Comments: This situation in the country should of been handle along time ago, when crime is done punishment should be severe like China and those Asian countries do,I do support the country to be shut for crime and high prices.People in other countries do it all the time.
Now I know that I am responding at the end of the day but from what I heard and saw today. Guess what. The country did not shut down. SURPRISE! Oh please, I am a Trini and I knew that was going to happen. As someone said earlier, what would me a teacher in the primary school system (fresh out of holidays I might add), staying home today prove? Nothing but we are d*** lazy and found an excuse to stay home. We had a staff discussion (not a staff meeting) and we all agreed that staying home today would be a waste of time. By the way: I don't know if you all noticed but all the utilities worked today. The electricity, water, phone, cable, even the garbage men passed early today. So the people who called for shutdown today for my part looked like fools today. Manning must have had a good laugh today.
