I tend to look for a large bird. I believe that finding a bird over #20 lbs is hard enough. Trying to find one that was raised just so to fit in your beliefs would make that harder. I usually go for the more popular brand names that usually have what I want without looking hard and long.

I make it simple I look for gain fed as they taste better then it must be around $1 to $1.5 per lb. Free ranged is nice but not worth the monies and of course if it is wild turkey it wins hands down. I also tend to buy small turkey and just use two if need be.

Yes if I get the chance to go and shoot me a wild turkey then that is what we will cook for Christmas day. Wild turkeys are much better tasting then the store bought ones. Somehow my kids do not believe me. I might have to prove it to them.
