Fish & Water
What are your thoughts about the following quote?
"We don't know who discovered water, but we are certain it wasn't a fish."
-- John Culkin (1928-1993) American media scholar and critic, educator, writer and consultant
Was water ever discovered or was it just there when the first man walked on the earth? This is a interesting question for we all know how important water is to maintain life on this planet. IF we evolved from ape and became free thinkers then I do not believe that water was "discovered" but was always there and we knew that we had to have it in order to survive. It is my belief that the only water we will actually discover is that water which is not on this earth.
I think he is saying that water is not "discovered" by fish because they live in it. Everyday, swimmy swimmy through a substance they don't think about because its always there. Humans didn't discover the earth for the same reason.
His point is probably that we all live in a way that we don't notice something unless it is "abnormal." If a water cooler at work gives you water everyday you don't think about the man who delivers it until one day you go to use it and its empty.
