But it's all seared into the memory of her mother, Elaine, especially the part where the doctors told her that Candice, who was in a coma and breathing by respirator, should be pronounced dead. Elaine decided to keep the feeding tube in place, which, she recalls, made the neurosurgeon furious. "He thought I was just prolonging her agony and that I would have a vegetable on my hands," she says. "But when it's your child lying there, you'll do anything." |

It seems the Japanese has less doubts then us in North America on this technique. I hope more tests are done to see what voltage levels ect work best.
The technique for waking her aside this is truly amazing that she woke and was functional a true miracle.

I agree more research is needed to find out the best voltage that is needed in these cases. It could come down to a variable since everyone may react differently to different voltages. What works in one person may not work in another. Kind of like some of the meds we have now. I am sure that this ground breaking treatment will go on and we will see it being more widely accepted and used in the future.
