CPRtoCTR Introduction

Hey everyone,

I'm a U of U student and just looking forward to contributing a little input into the discussions here. I do want a little credit for what I have to say, so I chose to register. Anyway, I am a returned missionary, served in the Michigan Lansing Mission, and found the whole experience enlightening.

I made the awful mistake of studying extremely deep doctrines early in my mission. It's not that it shook my testimony or anything (it didn't; the opposite was true) but I focused more on that stuff than the stuff I was supposed to read. Well, I repented and studied the basics in detail (which can be very "deep" in itself). Overall, I was extremely blessed in baptisms, experiences, and companions. I had a great mission.

I think I can school most people in the deep doctrine department, but I'll start out with a humble attitude and see what you have to say first. I will never disrespect a well-meaning person, but there is a difference when it comes to false doctrine. I will be the first to say you are wrong when that's the case. I will say it bluntly but not arrogantly or condescendingly. I'll just say that's wrong and this is why and this is what is the truth. I learned to be that way as a missionary when a lady I was teaching was so lost in false doctrines she thought she seemed delusional. She threw away her pagan books, repented, and came back into activity (she was a member). Extending a firm hand and following up with love and truth is the best way.

It would be criminal to let someone go on believing false teachings all their life and think they are following the Restored Gospel when their reality is very different. I personally would rather be surprised to find out I was wrong here and now than when I have my appointment before the judgment bar. I would also be very disappointed if someone who knew the truth didn't correct me when I was wrong. I try to extend the same courtesy.

So, I will try not to offend anyone and I'm open to correction myself.
