An Airbus A320 could have made it back to New York's LaGuardia Airport after colliding with geese last year, but under the circumstances the captain's decision to ditch into the Hudson River was the better choice, documents released yesterday by a federal safety panel said. Ref. Source 3

I watched some of the footage of the plane being rolled down to where it will be put on display. I think it is nice that it was in good condition to make the journey to where it was supposed to go in the first place.
