Congressman mocks Minuteman

Glenn played one of the more amazing pieces of audio you'll ever hear - a Congressman so arrogant it's actually shocking (as opposed to the arrogance we are used to). He's talking to some citizens and Minutemen about the dire situation on the border - the Congressman amazingly mocks them as callous murderers and avoids answering questions. Ref. Source 6

This is some of the stuff I have been talking about. Congress does not care about all the illegal immigrants because they are probably lining their pockets with cash. TAX FREE cash at that. While the Drug cartels send armed men into the USA to make sure their friends with drugs get across the border with no one harassing them. This is plain sickening.

That's fine Kntoran but at the same time to have them killed like you suggested is crazy man. We need something better in place. They're humans.

Well if people do not want to kill them that is fine by me. We need to stop this flow of bodies across our border and stop it soon. I do not care how it is done it just need to be done. Shooting them was just a suggestion.

I fear it is a loosing battle as it seems more and more laws are being bent to allow this to continue and even grow. The case that people are trying to make is that keeping mexicans behind the border is somehow morally wrong and unjust. I don't see the logic in this but more and more people are being convinced that there should be no border at all it seems.

I mean, the border is there for a reason. If no one is going to respect that border then what? America is Mexico and Mexico is America?

If a person is breaking the law and everyone is clapping for them saying, "Oh you poor people who are misunderstood. Good for you for coming here illegally I wish you the best." Then what are they going to think about laws in general. They are being rewarded from the first step into America by breaking the law. Then they will think this is cool or breaking the law is something you just do because you have to.

I think we need to stop being such wimps about these laws and remember the people who have died to make America the greatest place to live in the world.

I see this mistake committed all the time, so do not take this personally I merely want to illustrate some points. Mexico IS America. America is a continent - it extends from Alaska and Canada in the North to Chile and Argentina in the South - all of this is America. Now there is your country which is called, "The United States of America". Other people divide it into regions - North America, Central America and South America. Therefore when you say "America" it is like saying "Europe" or "Asia" and is not specific to one country. However this illustrates a couple of things in the thinking of the USA:

1. The USA through marketing always pushes itself as the "best" and invites everyone to 'come and see'. There is nothing wrong with that, however they also indirectly say Now that you have seen it all make sure and leave. Humans by nature are not like that. Once someone sees something better they want more of it not less. This should be considered when the invite is sent.

2. The USA needs to decide whether it wants NAFTA or not. It gives mixed signals. There is a more specific Thread about this but you cannot claim to want to have an 'EU' of three sovereign nations but only give special treatment to Canada. It is either you are doing it or not. The USA is a land of Immigrants, the original inhabitants - the American Indian Nations have been cordoned off and segregated and even now there are Threads where the USA is trying to take back those Nations' land.

3. Like it or not the Economy of the US is built on Mexican labor. People willing to work for next to nothing in order to keep prices low and marketable. Under the table jobs are in high demand which means US Citizens themselves are the ones encouraging this. If there was no available employment then the Mexicans would stop coming.

4. Should people enter a country illegally? No. Should they be given special treatment once in the country illegally? No, however in dealing with people the US can be well advised to remember the above points. Finally , the point I see here is consistency. If you are going to deal with illegals, then do it - but do it across the board and in the same manner - do not use illegals as a political pawn.
