And yet again another indication we should have either gone over there to win, which would have been extremely difficult. We would have had to kill a large percentage of the population to actually break there will. That is truly the only way to win a war. It is how we won the Civil War, how us and our allies won WWII and did so in such a way as to fundamentally change the way the countries we beat thought and acted. Since we don't have the stomach for that type of conflict any longer, or at least won't until a country really hurts us and scares us to the point where people are worried they'll lose their cushy lifestyles, we should have gone in hard, found the bad guys, stayed there until we dug every one of them out of their holes, and killed them… then we should have left.
Yes many people do not understand that is the way of war. Look at ISIS/ISIL and what they are doing. They are taking everything to the extreme. I think the Taliban are doing the same thing. It makes the people fear them more and also want to just let them have control as to not cause more strife and bloodshed in the long run. This is also why we should pull out of Afghanistan and let them have it.
KN,
Yeah, and not the legitimate governor, the shadow governor. The Taliban sets up a shadow government in every province and the leader is the shadow governor. He's invariably a very bad guy, wants to enslave women, uses young boys as sex toys, murders indiscriminately. His death is a great thing.
