Amazing how much people want the Kristen McKay and James Hoyt fictional story to be real after watching the movie. They're still asking up to this day if it really happened.

People need to learn to read. I think the Movie said it was based on true events. That does not make the movie true. It is based on truth. We all hear and read about home invasions. It is something that occurs. Now lets take a home invasion and hype it up and make it into a movie that makes it look very scary and bad. Then release said movie with the words "Based on true events" so that the masses think it really happened and talk about it for years and do searches on google to try to find where it did take place so they can go see the house or the area it happened at.
Maybe people like totally want to believe its real so they can feel they're watching how an actual murder took place.

There is always a buzz about this story right around now (Halloween) when all the horror films start to be played and replayed. Fact is, this never happened as a real case. There may have been something similar but it did not happen like this and not at the address and location listed.

Give credit to the filmmakers. If they have this many people (Judging from the views of this topic) wondering about the truth behind Kristen Mckay and James Hoyt then they did an excellent job making fiction seem like reality.

If Kristen Mckay And James Hoyt was a murder case then I think it would have made more news and be well known. I am interested to know which real events this movie was based on. Probably the Manson murders in California?
