Likely one of the top sport fish in North America small mouth Large mouth or Black bass all explosive on the hit and great acrobats in fighting.

What is you favorite method?

One of mine that many laugh at is the Texas rig with worms or minnows. Get a 10' rod and a big egg sinker. I find the floating jig head eds to yellows work best and bring lots of shades in between and combination. The one with eyes on them seem to work best for me. Set the egg sinker about a foot ( does not work try more.) back from the hook. Use floating jig head with worm or minnow and set it in the evening at the crest of the nearest drop off in the lake. Leave the bail open for easy pickup.

The colour is likely the biggest determination of a hit. Small or large mouth like it and so do the lake trout!
