I like these fellas as they are tasty when cooked right and can be caught when fishing for Bass or Walleye.
My favorite lake the best technique for the big ones is ice fishing with minnows coupled with jigs. I set the line so it looks like the minnows are chasing after the jig. I like 6 to 8 inch minnows. The one we get from my cousins pond seem to work best. I have no idea why. just be sure to cut your hole about 3 feet around for easy retrieval once hooked. I find a chainsaw for the initial hole works well, just be kind and mark you holes when done so another can use them or at least not fall in.
Summer time early morning late afternoon trolling is best I find. In day time hook on a very large float and use minnows just above heavy weed beds. Ensure you have very heavy line as you pull out 10 lbs of weeds with every fish.
What are you favorite techniques I would never ask were as that is every ones secret.
