In the Uk we only have two fish of the bass family in fresh water.
The Zander in southern England, and the Perch, wich is abundant.
The Perch is very numerous but a large one is rare.
Top bait; worm, Mepps spinner or live baby silver fish.

In the lake not far from me I have Catfish, Crappies and trout that I know of. Some have said there is bass out there but I have not caught any. I may have to get a boat and get out in the open water.

The only big fish in freshwater here are monster stocked Rainbow and Carp.
My first wild river fish was a Sewin or Sea Trout, caught on a claret marchbrown fly in a historic stream on the Isle of Anglesey.
