Giving Up Power

Consider the following quote and place your thoughts:

"The most commom way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any"

Power Giving

I can agree to this quote. It is very easy to have someone give up their power when they believe that they do not have any. Sometimes all it takes is a strong willed person who can take over and make others do their work.

I disagree with the quote! Any person who thinks he does not have power, does NOT have any cause to give up whatsoever power there is in the first place. For me, the quote only means that the person was just tired or perhaps frustrated! Secondly, the fact that he thinks he has no power is in itself an exercise of the power of his mind to think of such a thing. The potential for such a power to be given up is certainly not lost for simply thinking he has not any.

The choice to give up power is just an exercise of inaction and cannot be equated as absence of power. So, the most common way for people to give up power is simply NOT TO exercise such power, by not acting or by being indifferent. Power implies energy, it implies action; therefore, to give it up would simply mean not to apply such energy and such action.
