The only real change to the house is me!
This is my Wife's Grandparents' house, she has been alone here since the old lady died. She has memories of a fond childhood here, but felt lonely until we were married and I moved in four months ago.
Mabe the house and it's spirits are not used to me yet.

We heard a crashing sound upstairs one evening. There was no window open in the bathroom, but two candles had flown off the shelf and crashed into the bath. There was no-one upstairs and we have no rational explanation. Are we victims of a Poltergeist? |
Well Harkon, if you have the time and money you could go all, 'Paranormal State' and try and prove the existence of your ghost, but I think you already have the right attitude.
If there are further episodes that confirm that you may indeed have a ghost lingering about, try not to acknowledge it's presence and do not fear it. Talking to it may just make it more conscious, and it shouldn't be, as it is only a lingering memory of what was, it is not the person it was. Fear can also stimulate it, but you seem to be dealing with that just fine.
Still, until you know for sure that you have a ghost, be objective, don't embrace the paranormal until you are certain.
Thank you for the advice, I believe that any spirit here is friendly.
I don't feel any threat but comfort, my wife's ancestors are welcome here, I will show them respect as we both honour their presence. If they need help or if they offer any council, in time we may communicate with them.
We have practiced Pagan rituals in the house and they were met by a calm energy that was very special for both of us.
I believe that there are no such things as specific haunted houses.
It makes sense that ALL space contains the spirit of those passed.
Anywhere that has history, all places where human emotion has occurred has an imprint of energy.
What we experience is the vail of energy becoming thin; apparitions, sounds, smells, all are common in our reality but when the unexplained becomes undeniably prominent, even the sceptic can believe.
I completely agree Harkon. Ghosts are manifestations of strong imprints, and they gain a foot hold in the physical world when they are charged with an emotional energy they are sensitive to, or perhaps something changes, interrupting their unconscious routine. It is a part of our world that some people do not want to believe or consider.
Personally I find it a little comforting knowing that a bump in the night may be more than what we might think.
