Driftre Introduction

I believe the United States is mentioned three times in the Bible. All three occurrences are in the book of Daniel. The book of Daniel is self described as a 'closed' book and not understood until 'the time of the end' until all the 'end time' players are in position. Therefore the United States is presented in the context of the 'end time prophecies'; and it is presented in symbol and description.

For description of 'end time prophecies' we look to the prophets. The first event associated with 'the last days' is the rebirth of Israel as a state. In Matthew it states that the duration of the 'end time' will be one generation.

The United States is first presented as a super power that is respected for its military power which is unbeatable by any military power that thinks to stand up to it. It is described as a 'great dominion' and is primarily mentioned in the Bible because it is a close ally of Israel. But, the power and respect are shortlived and brief, and the super power is deeply humiliated and relegated to a third world status.

The other two mentions of the United States are presented to set the 'time' for this humiliation. The first, describes an event where the United States leads a coalition of nations against a middle east bully. The coalition is led against the bully twice and the second incursion completely descimates the government and the military of the bully. The previous actions and location of this bully power are described and the nation is even named as the ancient land of the Medes. During this event the power of the coalition is described, at some point, as being greater than the power of the original bully power; as evidenced by he quelling of the unrest of the various tribes and factions fighting for power after the original conquest. It is when this newfound power is exhibited that the military power of the leader of the coalition is 'broken'.

The last mention of this 'great dominion', the United States, is and event initiated by the 'king' or president of this 'great dominion'. This president is described as a person that does as he wants regardless of the consequences. And in this event he is pitted against a Middle East 'king' that has all the Western nations worried about his 'strength'. This Middle East 'king' is named as the fourth king of the ancient land of the Persians. When the president of the United States who led the second action of the coalition against Iraq acts militarily against this final 'king' of Iran, then the government of the United States will fail. The succesion of the United States government presidency will not be taken up by anyone. And, for at least awhile there will be no federal government of the United States.
