Thing about them is they like TSTT [they want you stuck with a] contract for at least a year.
When the rain falls sometimes the picture goes thats been the worst thing about it.
My hubby and I recently subscribed to DirecTV since we heard that it is available in our area. The cost is the same as Flow. So far, I am very pleased with the customer service. When I read the contract, I noticed that there is a clause which advises customers that if they choose to discontinue the service before one year has elapsed, then they will be charged three months subscription and also, be expected to pay the balance due for the rest of the year. I think this is very outrageous but also a clever way of preventing people from subscribing and changing their minds too quickly. I don't think this will affect hubby or me since we intend to stick with this new service unless, something terrible happens.
I am hoping that more people will respond to this thread since I am anxious to hear about the problems that individuals have experienced with DirecTV. The rain fell heavily recently and our service was not affected. As time goes on, I will provide updates on any problems or concerning the service.
Okay folks, time for an update. Only one day during the month of January 2009, my reception was distorted for about five minutes. I noticed that this happened when there was a sudden and brief heavy shower which lasted for about 10 minutes. But nevertheless, the quality has been fantastic.
And now for the gloomy news. Recently, Directv has celebrated their anniversary and decided to allow customers who have not subscribed to any movie channels, nine movie channels to be viewed free from Friday 30 Jan - Mon 2 Feb 2009. Of course, Geenie tried to take advantage of this free offer but to no avail. I called Directv to complain on Sat 31 Jan and they said that their technicians were feverishly working on the problem since a few customers were complaining that they could not access this free offer. Interesting part was, today, I decided to follow up and I spoke to a CSR who explained that there was nothing wrong with their system. It was a Latin American problem. They checked with their headquarters in Venezuela who reassured them that everyone should have been able to access the channels. So I asked if we would be given four more days to view the channels and she apologetically said no, since the problem was out of their hands. She apologized and thanked me for calling. Well that was disappointing but at least the service is good!

Comments: I have Directv and I cannot wait to make one year anniversary so I can get out because the service is not acceptable especially when it rains and also do not try to call, you will never get through. Imagine my service was cut even when I paid my bill. Can't wait to leave.

Comments: Direct TV is the worse service and reception ever! I contacted them after my contract was ended to request the service be discontinued however due to untrained CSRs I still have the service and I'm not very pleased.
