According to the Mission web site, Elder Neil Andersen will create the first stake in Trinidad on March 1st, 2009 in Port of Spain. Elder Francisco J. Vinas, second counselor in the Area Presidency will be present as well.
A Priesthood meeting will be held from 3:00-5:00 pm and an adult general session from 6:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, February 28th. The Sunday session will take place from 10:00-12:00 am on March 1st.
The Church has been in Trinidad since the 70's.
It has been an awfully long time, this should have happened almost a decade ago. The best thing about the Trinidad Stake will be not having to go through the constant changing mission leaders for direction. Finally local leaders can make decisions for themselves and not have to go with policy "a" then after three years it is changed to policy "b", etc.
Former District President Ashton Garcia passed on the results of the new Port of Spain Trinidad Stake formed:
President - Emrol Gould
1st Counselor - Christopher Danzell
2nd Counselor- Michael Rupa
Clerk - Xavier Guaycha
Executive Secretary - Kempton Lewis
Attendance 747 members.

The Church news published an article with features and details on the meeting that took place on March 1st. Elder Andersen said there will be a protection here and it will be a permanent place for members to come to learn and grow. He reminded the Saints about paying their tithing.
President Gould said they will do everything they can to develop a "celestial" culture in Trinidad.
