US$8,000 Tax Credit

What do you think about the stimulus plan to give a US$8,000 Tax Credit to first time home buyers? Does that give you any incentive to buy a home?

Credit Tax Us

There is already a home buyers credit on the 2008 tax law, but it's actually a "no-interest loan" from the government. They will charge a certain amount every year for 15 years until it's "paid back."

I'm not sure about the details of this new credit, except that I think it's for home purchases in 2009 prior to December 1. It's also not clear if this is a "refundable" credit, or whether it will be rolled over to future years...? Not sure where to find the text of the plan.

It's annoying because I bought my house last year.

When it was announced I was thinking about how you just bought your home and could have probably used that tax credit. Maybe you will still be entitled to it. When more facts come out maybe you can find out.
