Part-time taxi-driver, Deoraj Bansraj, was on his way to meet his wife at a wedding when he was hijacked, robbed and killed.

His wife, Phulmattie Bansraj, stood at the side of the road and waited for more than two hours for her husband, but he never arrived.

Then news came that the father of four was hacked to death and his body dumped at the side of the road, metres from where she was waiting.

Bansraj, 55, was the sixth taxi-driver to be killed this year. He drove out of his Guayamare Village, Charlieville, home in his white Corolla car around 5.15 p.m. On Sunday. But somewhere along the journey, a 15-minute drive, he was hacked to death, police said. His wallet and car were stolen.
