Kathleen Sebelius
Obama to Name Pro-Abortion Kathleen Sebelius as Health Secretary, Officials Say
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- While House officials say President Barack Obama will name pro-abortion Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who has been criticized for refusing to limit late-term abortions, as the Secretary of the Health and Human Services Department. Obama advisors notified the media late Wednesday that the president has settled on Sebelius as his top choice for the position, though her has not made his decision official. The New York Times indicates the White House has not finished vetting Sebelius for the post and officials were unsure whether the process would be complete in time for her to be nominated next week. The newspaper indicated the advisors described Sebelius as the "leading candidate" and said no other potential candidates have been mention, although they insisted the decision is not final. As the health secretary, Sebelius could have an impact in crafting a health care plan that could cover abortions with taxpayer funds or require insurance companies to cover abortions in their plans. Sebelius is most notorious for her close relationship with late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller, who has escaped prosecution and accountability thus far for allegedly repeatedly violating state abortion laws. That followed by a year her veto of a bill requiring explicit medical reasons for a late abortion, which was preceded by vetoing other pro-life legislation in 2006, 2005 and 2003. Ref. Source 2
Senate Votes to Approve Pro-Abortion Obama HHS Nominee Kathleen Sebelius
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The Senate voted on a lopsided 2-1 margin in favor of pro-abortion Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to become the next Health Secretary. Pro-life groups had opposed her nomination because of her lengthy pro-abortion record voting pro-life bills and her close connection with a late-term abortion practitioner. Senators voted 65 to 31 on Tuesday to confirm Sebelius as the secretary of Health and Human Services, approving yet another of President Barack Obama's pro-abortion nominees. As the health secretary, Sebelius could have an impact in crafting a health care plan that could cover abortions with taxpayer funds or require insurance companies to cover abortions in their plans. Sebelius could also issue new regulations overturning the protections President Bush put in place that protect pro-life doctors and medical centers as the Obama administration has proposed doing.

"Over the past few weeks, millions of Americans have visited HealthCare.gov to look at their new health coverage options under the Affordable Care Act," Sebelius says. Sebelius Dodges Question About Obamacare Insurance Promise as "Lie of the Year"
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today dodged a question about the "Lie of the Year" award Obamacare won yesterday.
When Congress debated the Obamacare health care law, pro-life advocates were often the one early voice exposing how the law would cause rationing of life-saving care. Obamacare supporters have mocked the claim and the media went after Sarah Palin saying Americans should be concerned about "death panels." Ref. Source 9
FALSE: Sebelius is Wrong: Obamacare Web Site Doesn't List Which Plans Cover Abortion
The Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), the education and research arm of the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), today released new information exposing the ongoing abortion transparency problems during implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
The SBA List called on Congress to immediately vote on the Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act (S. 1848) introduced today by Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS), which would require clear disclosure of abortion coverage for each plan offered on the new health insurance exchanges. Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) introduced companion legislation in the House in October. Ref. Source 9
