Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said National Guard troops and state police will escort buses to take home some 2,400 children stuck in Atlanta-area schools after Tuesday's snowstorm that paralyzed area roads.
The students will be "Transported as soon as possible back to their homes," Deal said.
Deal said the state government will close again on Thursday because of treacherous road conditions. He asked people to stay off the roads to give crews time to clear them.

At least 11 confirmed killed as storms roar through Georgia
Eleven people were killed and more than 20 injured as violent storms rolled through parts of Georgia, authorities said Sunday. The reports came a day after at least four people were killed in southern Mississippi early Saturday when a tornado roared through the Hattiesburg area, leveling homes, ripping off roofs and tossing trees into roadways across the region. Catherine Howden, spokeswoman for the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, told USA TODAY that seven people were killed in Cook County and two each in Brooks and Berrien counties. The National Weather Service forecast a possible "Major severe weather outbreak" into Sunday night. Ref. USAToday.
Georgia seems to be a common victim for strong storms, similar to Nebraska since it's no stranger to those. Last time they had a storm is Hurricane Michael, a category 4 storm. In other parts of 2018 there were also several tornadoes that kept the locals alerted.
