international QUOTE (Aidrenegade)
I do feel that splitting the murder rate info would be benificial to Tobago's tourist trade

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you referring to TTCrime.com? If so, that is a separate site to this. This is a general T&T related Discussion Board where some crimes are Discussed both in Trinidad and Tobago.

international QUOTE
My main interest is in promoting Tobago's tourist trade in the best light possible.

If you want to zero in on Tobago then feel free to start a new Thread "Tourism In Tobago" or "A Foreigner's View Of Tobago" or something along those lines.

Well you will have to reach other media systems for that purpose, this is just one Board that is an isolated part of the big picture. I haven't been to Tobago in decades, but I do know from Trinidadians that we have a very long way to go if we expect Trinidad to be a favorable tourist destination minus Carnival. In other words, you take Carnival out of the equation and there really isn't a lot to come to Trinidad to do.

Tobago tourism is on the decline (Crime / SOE) to the point that international carriers are decreasing their flights to Tobago. For instance in the new year British Airways will only have one flight per week to Tobago rather than the three it currently has between the UK and Tobago.

Comments: I got news for the writer of the letter entitled 'Give world chance to discover T&T' which appeared in today's issue of the Newsday newspaper. The world citizens have discovered T&T years ago and been kept up to-date by the adverse reports of the antics of some of our citizens who have assisted in dragging this nation into the gutter. The biggest advertisement of this nation was displayed all over the world when we had an attempted coup in 1990,followed by all the kidnappings and escalation of crime here after that incident, and of course the FIFA scandal a few years ago in which the local accused is still pleading his innocence and spending a lot of his ill-gotten gains on trying to prevent extradition to the USA to face a court of law. Now we are known in this part of the globe as dabblers in corruption and a haven for criminals involved in all types of criminal activities. Our latest uplift to fame is that we are the producers of the most ISIS terrorists in this part of the globe. . The owners and operators of cruising ships are fully aware of our abilities to rob, assault and even murder our visitors. They avoid this island like a plague. You won't see Port of Spain as a calling port on any cruise ship itinerary. The only investor willing to come here to do business are those who are offered a fistful of dollars for doing very little or nothing at all. It is as they say 'money for old rope. The future of tourism in Tobago too will also dwindle if the crime scenario there starts to reach the level it is here. Thank goodness for the planned Sandals complex in Tobago which will help that island to retain some tourist trade.I am however surprised that we still have citizens here or anywhere else in the world failing to face the reality of what has gone wrong here, is still wrong and getting even worse.

Comments: Our politicians are not just listening or paying any attention as to why building a Sandal's complex or more hotels in Tobago or Trinidad is not going to enhance the tourist industry. The rising murder rate in Tobago and the perpetual bad crime scenario in Trinidad is the cause of the decline in our tourism industry. We just have too many citizens with primitive minds and attitudes acting as savages who are indulging in all forms of crimes here especially murder. The message has now been relayed to almost all tour operators about the crime situation here.and the expectation of the chances of either being robbed or assaulted on either of these islands as visiting tourists. I picked up a Fred Olsen travel magazine yesterday in a coffee shop and in pursuing its contents I saw here were lots of cruises on offer in the Caribbean with visiting ships calling at many islands. However, there was no itinerary showing any ships visiting either Trinidad or Tobago. Not until the crime situation improve in this nation that our tourist industry could again be considered as an economic asset.
