A new scam: Someone calls up an elderly person and says, "Grandma is that you?" and when Granny says the name of her grandchild in reply like "Yes, x is that you?" then they use the name 'x' to ask for thousands of dollars for a made up emergency. FNC reports that most of the calls are coming from Canada.
