Radio chip coming soon to your driver's license?
Privacy advocates are issuing warnings about a new radio chip plan that ultimately could provide electronic identification for every adult in the U.S. And allow agents to compile attendance lists at anti-government rallies simply by walking through the assembly. Ref. Source 4
I believe this is just another way of big brother to monitor what we are doing and where we are going. I think it is a way to tag us individually. I can see the police or other government agencies setting up reader posts so that when you walk past one it reads the chip and tells them where you are and where you are going. This can be helpful in tracking down thieves or other criminals who are wanted. But then again the criminals will not carry the IDs if they know about this.
I agree with above. If this fell in the wrong hands it could mean double trouble for both you and the would be criminal. Why can't the government just leave us alone? Maybe we should join the Mennonites and ride on a horse driven wagon. Edited: Clara on 5th Mar, 2009 - 7:04pm
