Principles
Consider the following quote and give your input:
"Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
It is true I think as long as you know what your doing is right by your principals, your heart will rest easy. It is not to say you will not be in conflict with others because of it just that your able to accept the conflict for what it is and be at peace with that.
Agreed. Many do not understand the difference between principles, duty, actions, and commands. Principles is what decides what you will do when duty calls, actions take place or commands are given. For instance, love is a principle, so if you are full of the principle of love you will do your duty as a father.
JB: Your illustration will fall short in understanding. To do your duty as a father is not the requisite dictate by the principle of love, rather by principle of responsibility. To apply the principle of love, you will not just be duty-bound to be a responsible father but bound to sacrifice, and even to be willing to die, for the person you truly love, that is if you are "full of the principle of love." Anything less will devalue such "fullness of the principle of love."
