Non-Embryonic Cell Research vs. Embryonic Research

What I don't understand about all this money being funded towards Embryonic Research is that it is now considered 'old methods'. I'm no expert on this, but from what I understand Non-Embryonic Cell Research is giving better results than the actual Embryonic Research. Also, Non-Embryonic Cell Research eliminates the morality issue, so why doesn't Obama focus there?
