Exterminate The Negro Population
Continuing the featured christian t-shirts (we are not affiliated with the creators) with a dual message Posts is fun, so here are some more:
QUOTE (Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood: The Eugenics Connection) |
It seems to me from my experience . . . in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas, that while the colored Negroes have great respect for white doctors, they can get closer to their own members and more or less lay their cards on the table. . . . They do not do this with the white people, and if we can train the Negro doctor at the clinic, he can go among them with enthusiasm and with knowledge, which, I believe, will have far-reaching results. . . . His work, in my opinion, should be entirely with the Negro profession and the nurses, hospital, social workers, as well as the County's white doctors. His success will depend upon his personality and his training by us. The minister's work is also important, and also he should be trained, perhaps by the Federation, as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to reach. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs (1939). (emphasis added.) |
This shirt is plain wrong. To want to eliminate an entire race is just like hitler tried to do. I hope that those who like this message get to really start thinking because they are no better than hitler. We all bleed red. It does not matter what color our skin is. Wanting to get rid of those who are not like you makes you a bigot.
It is clear that this t-shirt is an attempt by anti-abortion groups to tarnish as much as they can not just abortion practice in America but those who founded the Planned Parenthood organization.
And it is very effective.
That the quote itself (as we can see from the fuller quote at the bottom of the page) was taken completely out of context and has been reconstructed so as to imply a meaning that was not originally in the text is immaterial in terms of its effects.
"What?" The unknowing observer may ask. "Planned Parenthood wanted to KILL black children?!"
And by the time you try to point out what the speaker actuallymeant in their fuller context the observer has already made up their mind that Planned Parent was (and might still be) a racist organisation committed to racial genocide.
Its shameful to so completely misrepresent someone but I've got to own up to a grudging respect for the t-shirt printers. They have managed to use someone's own words against them by the use of nothing more than the power of suggestion and the knowledge peolple's emotional reaction to that short statement would be far more beneficial to their cause than any awareness of the full quote might be to rationality.
Name: Karib
Comments: Actually, Xander you are wrong. The original purpose of Planned Parenthood and its founder WAS to exterminate the black population. PP has acknowledged this, but has also said that its current purpose does not reflect the vision of its founder.
I am pro-choice (not pro-abortion) but I'm not blind to what the motives may have been of a lot of educated people in the past.
See, this is what I'm talking about. Say a lie that's big enough and controversial enough and people will believe it. Sanger did not set up Planned Parenthood to exterminate black people. It was set up to provide birth control. The quote mentioned here is talking about training black doctors because black women who want an abortion or birth control advice would feel more comfortable with another black person dealing with them. This was 1939 remember. I wouldn't be surprised if black women did feel unable to see a white doctor.
But of course that can then be twisted.
"Sanger hated black people, can't you see? She said it herself when she said she didn't want it to get out out she wanted to exterminate the negro population!"
No, she didn't want that to get out because its not true but she was aware that it could APPEAR to be true if spun correctly-something the anti-abortion lobby has taken advantage of to its dubious credit.
