Smart Is The New Stupid

Do you think the direction the world is heading where people feel they are somehow superior to others because of technological advances is in league with Smart being the New Stupid?

Stupid The Smart

I think a lot of people confuse the speed of information being a sort of power and factual. I do agree that communication can give you power - after all, knowledge is power - however, without verifying that info one is lead to believe it is true. This is the problem with technology and the young minds of today. In research projects kids are more likely to quote Wikipedia than they are the actual source - simply because it is easier. Then when they are shown the error of their ways they say, "But how can it be... I got it from Wikipedia!" rolleyes.gif

Yes wisdom is still only gained through experience and with out it knowledge is a dull tool.

If you are smart you are hurting after all .. so yes smarting is usually accomplished through stupidity or carelessness. biggrin.gif

I think yes we are having too much schooling with no practicality behind it to give it true usability. How many engineers doe sit take to screw in the light bulb? I do not know either as they still have not managed!

We need applied knowledge not just theories on how things work to be considered intelligent or wise.

Thats another take on it, here is what I think about it. If you want to think you're smart and look stupid then that's up to you, just don't try to force your smarts on me that's the part that really gets to me.
