Band Or Not?

Alright, so I'm faced with a decision to make. But, allow me to explain my situation first. My grandma had a friend who owns some small buisness chain in florida. Well, my grandma found me with my guitar when that friend was over and asked for me to play and sing. So I did so, and now this buisness owner wants me to go and perform at her stores because she thinks I have an amazing talent. The only thing is, I am but a lone guitarist who sings.

Now, My decision is, should I start a band or should I go solo? I'm very social and have not a shy bone in my body, so morale support isn't really an issue, I've been out in public and performed a very slow song acapelo... Mi malo. But, If I start a band, then I split the profits, but I can have a "Fuller" sound with drums and bass, and perhaps another guitar. If I go solo though, I keep all profits and the music remains soley my own. Any suggestions?

Not Band

Maybe the question here is how confident are you? If you are really good then go solo. If you get a lot of fame from it then you can always bring in a backup band later or request her to do it that way she pays for them to assist you.

I think it depends on what kind of sound you want. I would keep in mind that being a solo artist has different advantages and disadvantages than being in a band. While you don't have to go to other people and make a group decision, you are less likely find success. As you suggested, you have a shallower sound that way and more people will write you off as an indi artist. If you struggle or fail, it's on you.
