Soldier made it home for birth of son

A Christchurch-born soldier in the Australian Army was shot dead in Afghanistan just weeks after marrying and witnessing the birth of his son. Ref. Source 6

I hope that his new wife and child are well cared for now by the army. It is always sad to see a loved one killed in the line of their service but he died doing what he was trained to do. I feel for her being such a young widow.
